Walnut Creek and Treehouses at Walnut Creek
2000 Walnut Street, Boulder, CO
Completed 2015
Sitting on a large parcel of land that had been held by its previous owners for more than 50 years, Element was honored to develop 2000 Walnut Street. Centered around the preservation and renovation of a historic farmhouse on the site, this $10 million infill redevelopment project also saw the construction of 13 new townhomes and single-family residences in the Whittier neighborhood. Leveraging the firm’s extensive expertise in overcoming complex regulations, requirements and limited land-use options, Element’s integrated approach ensured the success of the challenging 10-year project. Element collaborated with Coburn as the general contractor and M. Gerwing Architects on the architecture to achieve design and construction harmony with the project’s stunning natural surroundings, which included a heavily wooded area and a creek flowing through the property. Cementing its commitment to the community, Element brought natural, modern design features to the project and oriented it to create a common spine of circulation lined with front porches, constructing a tight-knit community of downtown residents that look out for each other.
